The Celina High School Football Team Saves the Day!

Last Wednesday, the Celina High School football team dove into a rather formidable project: digging a one-horse open sleigh out of the historical society’s garage! The garage, which is filled from floor to ceiling, was once the Riley family’s summer kitchen. Today, it is used for extra museum storage. As a result, it has become rather full over the years.

Undaunted, the football players and their coach, Coach Bader, arrived and immediately got to work. They moved several artifacts out of the way until finally coming to the small sleigh near the back of the space. The sleigh, a small single seater made of solid wood, was donated by a local man and is hand painted. Thanks to the football team’s hard work, the sleigh will be put on display in the front lawn of the Riley House after undergoing a strenuous preservation process.
